SUMMARY:
Fabricate aircraft upholstery, found in VIP class aircraft, to industry standards using tools (steamer, sewing machine, scissors and others) common to the industry. Recover, build, and sew to specifications provided in sketches, drawings or engineering orders for seats, divans, side ledges and other interior softgoods.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Able to distinguish colors and align intricate designs in fabrics which requires the ability to cut and match fabrics precisely
- Able to set up and operate upholstery equipment safely
- Has the ability to sew the patterns (techniques) commonly used in aviation interiors
- Experience in seating disassembly, foam buildup, and seat reassembly / installation in aircraft
- Able to cut, fit, surge and install carpeting in aircraft
- Performs duties as assigned by supervisor
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- 2+ years experience sewing in an upholstery environment
- 2 years fabricating, assembling, and installing products such as side panels, headliners, and other interior pieces
- Familiar with the safe operation of cutting and surging carpet preferred / willingness to learn a must
- Experience in utilizing patterns to cut and fit upholstery in seats and side panels
